Professional Development
All of our professional development experiences are interactive, engaging, and conducted currently via Zoom. As experienced group facilitators and educational technology experts, we have adapted techniques for reflection, dialogue, and transformational adult learning so that technology is not an impediment, but rather fully leveraged for its features in a way that allows participants to be fully present and engaged while also safe and secure for health and safety.
This professional development is suitable for those staff members who primarily work in special education and also for mainstream teachers whose students, both typically and atypically developing, would benefit from the tools (e.g., approaches, strategies, and techniques) and understanding (e.g., child development, disabilities, etc.) that their teachers acquire in our professional development because it equips them to teach/work with their students as whole individuals.
Partnership with Helping Hands A&E
Helping Hands A&E partners with preK-12 schools that are looking to implement a program designed to develop social, cognitive, emotional, and physical awareness by utilizing exercise, art, life skills, and socialization activities.
Our program successfully celebrates the strengths of all students while systematically increasing their skills. The program emphasizes quality of life and the joy that is important to nurture in students of all ages and abilities. Our program also helps students achieve meaningful connections with each other and strengthens and reinforces positive relationships with their teachers, peers, and mentors.
Using this program can increase awareness and community response, which promote a sense of inclusivity and belonging that will enrich our students’ lives. Our program is especially valuable to our community with special needs—even after the age of 21 when there are typically fewer services available.
A partnership with Helping Hands A&E includes curriculum and resources; school community-facing activities (e.g., conferences, back-to-school nights, etc.); professional development; teacher observations; and curricular and instructional support.
